Day 1 Arrive in Lima the City of Kings
Arrive in the Lima airport, where our staff waits to take you to the heart of the city, Miraflores or spend the night in the airport hotel. This beautiful coastal city was founded by Francisco Pizarro, January 18, 1535 as the City of Kings. It became the capital and the Spanish Viceroyalty of Peru. Today Lima renowned for Peruvian cuisine especially ceviche (fresh seafood dishes).

Day 2 Lima – Puerto Maldonado – Amazon nature walks and adventure awaits you
Today we are going to transfer you to the airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado to begin our Amazon experience. You are going to enjoy a 45-minute boat ride along the Madre de Dios River, to arrive at Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica lodge, we recommend a guided walk along the Trail system, into the Lodge´s natural area, where you will discover the Amazon Basin. This trail offers an excellent introduction to the forest environment, winding past impressive trees such as the Shihuahuaco, and the strangely beautiful strangler fig, offering excellent opportunities for bird watching and observing exotic insects. Then we can do the Twilight River excursion with a guided afternoon boat ride on the Madre de Dios River. Observe the transformation from a diurnal to a nocturnal world of the animals and birds. Search for nightjars, owls, capybaras and up to three different caiman species.
Return to the lodge and enjoy dinner.

Day 3 Boating around Sandoval Lake
Early rise or wake up later, the choice is yours. This morning, you may visit the Lake Sandoval excursion into the Tambopata National Reserve. A smooth ride in a wooden canoe, across the calm waters of the oxbow lake, home to the endangered giant river otter, as well as red howler monkeys, red-bellied macaws, anacondas, side-neck turtles and black caimans. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, consider the adventure of the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway. Ascending the first tower, 29 meters above the forest ground, you will be up with the treetop realm. Walk for more than a quarter of a mile through the rainforest canopy on a suspension bridge network linking eight observation platforms. On this hour-and-a-half exploration, be on the lookout for colorful toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, monkeys, and sloths. You may extend your excursion and watch the sunset from one of the towers. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 4 Navigate through Gamitana Creek – Flora & Fauna in Hacienda Concepcion
A wonderful excursion awaits you at the Gamitana Creek, located 25 minutes by boat from the lodge. For one and a half hours, explore the rainforest along the banks of a winding, dark-water creek that is home to many piranha, caiman, turtles and birds, until the Sanipanga landing point. Navigate our way back downstream, observing the abundant flora and fauna along the way. We will return to Gamitana Farm to do a short guided tour to see how local farmers grow fruits and vegetables. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, take pleasure in the Hacienda Concepcion excursion, with over 200 different plant species, and learn about the uses and benefits of local flora. Then a 30-minute canoe trip to look for turtles, sun grebes, nightjars and exotic herons. Return to the lodge. In the evening you could consider the Rainforest by Night excursion of approximately 2 hours through the Inkaterra Ecological Reserve. Venture into the forest and experience the secret world of animal activity that awakens in the rainforest after dark. Hear the nocturnal forest sounds like music to your ears and spot species that only emerge at night. Return to the lodge.

Day 5 Puerto Maldonado – Fly to Cusco the Inca Capital – Travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas
After your buffet breakfast, retrace your route back to Puerto Maldonado where you may visit the lovely butterfly house while waiting for your flight to Cusco. Arrive in Cusco (3,350m/10,990ft) where our staff be waiting at the airport with a sign with your name and private transport to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Cusco was the capital of the Empire of Incas from the 13th to 16th Century. This charming city became a UNESCO World Heritage in 1983. We will have lunch in Cusco before departing to the Sacred Valley. A scenic drive to the lush mountainous Sacred Valley passing the town of Pisaq (2,960m/9,809ft) and up to the Pisaq ruins (3,347m/10,981ft) for a visit. Hike to the Sun Temple and the ceremonial grounds with fantastic views of the agricultural terraces built on the hilltop. Thereafter, we continue to your hotel located in Urubamba (2,910mt/9,549ft).

Day 6 Community School Visit – Ollantaytambo Inca Town – Peruvian Paso Horse Show – Moray Circular Depressions – Maras Salt Ponds
Today we set off from your hotel in the morning and drive to a local community school, and interact with the students playing some sports etc. After our cultural experience we will drive to one of the original Inca towns of Ollantaytambo (2,792m/9,160ft) once a royal estate to the Inca Pachacutec. The ruins were built on the side of the mountain facing town. Be pleased with the quaint town that has water canals running along the homes. Tour the many structures such as the Temple of the Sun, the Royal Hall and El Baño de la Princesa (Princess Bath). Then visit a local´s home where you will observe the guinea pigs with a chance to feed them and learn of their traditions. Drive to the town of Urubamba to have lunch in the Wayra Restaurant where lunch is served in the outdoor terrace. The buffet is a choice of tubers, meats and salads that is served at your table. Be entertained while you feast on your meal watching a Peruvian Paso Horse show. After lunch will visit Moray (3,500m/11482ft) the circular depressions believed to have been used by the Incas to test plants in different temperatures. Then drive on a dirt trail down to the colonial town of Maras continuing around the mountain where you will catch stunning views of the white salt ponds below. Stop for picture! Once we arrive at the Salt Ponds (3,180m/10,433ft) we will walk around the ponds and taste the salty waters. There are about 3,000 wells which are left to evaporate and are gathered by hand without any machinery. Return to your hotel.

Day 7 Traditional Weaving – Farm visit – Kayaking or Stand up Paddle – Travel by train to Machu Picchu Village
Today we are going to visit the fabulous highland community of Chinchero (3,762m/12,340ft.) believed to have been a resort town for the Inca Emperor Tupác Yupanqui. We will watch a traditional colorful weaving demonstration in a local´s home. The people from this village live from farming, raising animals and weaving textiles. See them dying wool, spinning it into yarn and weaving it on their looms. You will have an opportunity to purchase some of their shawls (mantas), belts (watanas), and caps (chullos), amongst other items. ToursTrekperu supports these people in the struggle to maintain their traditions and customs. Now our visit takes us to a Chacra where a local family will teach us of the ancient techniques of farming and you may participate in the action. Enjoy a picnic lunch prepared by our chef at the Andean lake of Huaypo surrounded by mountains and farms. While the meal is being prepared we will do some kayaking or stand up paddling with a wet suit and under the supervision of your guide. Then enjoy a delicious meal before going to Ollantaytambo station to board the Vistadome train to the village of Machu Picchu. Spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 8 Wow Finally Machu Picchu! – Travel by train to Cusco
Early rise and have breakfast before taking the bus for a 25-minute ride to the magical Machu Picchu one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Take pleasure in a professional guided walking tour, visiting the citadel once lost in time. Our first visit will be of the guard house to observe the agricultural farming terraces, Funerary Rock where the Incas were mummified and catch spectacular views of Sungate up above and Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu below. Stroll to the extraordinary Temple of the Sun with exceptionally carved stones, The Sacred Plaza with the Temple of the Three Windows which features the huge trapezoidal windows. Walk up to the Intihuatana the solar clock and finally visit the temple of the Condor. After a mesmerizing experience, feeling the energy of the past, exit the park with your guide to have lunch in the Tinquy Restaurant in the Sanctuary Lodge. After lunch return to town with your guide to take the Vistadome train with panoramic windows to the Ollantaytambo or Poroy station. Upon arrival in the station we will whisk you to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 9 Chef for A Day – Exploring the Inca City of Cusco
Roll up your sleeves for a flavorful introduction into Peruvian cooking. Begin with a tour of San Pedro market with our chef to pick up fresh produce and return for a two-hour hands-on class. Learn how to prepare an entry of Ceviche and main plate of Lomo Saltado. Then try the light dish prepared with your own hands.
After a light lunch, we will start the tour of the historical Inca city of Cusco. This four-hour tour offers a unique blend of Incan and colonial architecture, archaeology, history and culture. Our tour takes place in downtown Cusco (3,350m/10,990ft), with visits to the Cathedral in the Plaza de Armas with its outstanding collection of colonial art; considered the best repository of colonial art from the Cusco school. Then stroll the cobble stoned streets to Qoricancha, Temple of the Sun, a spiritual center of the Inca Empire. We will drive above Cusco for a visit of the immense Sacred Temple of Sacsayhuaman. Some sections of this place were first built by the pre-Inca Killke Culture around 1100. The Incas expanded this site in the 13th century constructing the huge stones. Since 1944 an annual theatrical representation of Inti Raymi is held on June 24 in Sacsayhuaman. Continue to the Inca sites of Qenqo, Puca Pucara (Red Fort), and Tambomachay where fountains built by the Incas capture the waters of a natural spring. Return to Cusco to explore on your own some of the museums included in your tourist ticket.
In the early evening walk to the Belmond Monasterio Hotel to feast on a decadent three-course dinner in El Tupay Restaurant which is included in the cooking class, Chef for the Day. Return to your hotel.

Day 10 Cusco – Fly to Lima – Chincha Creole Music – Paracas National Reserve
Today we say good bye to the beautiful ancient city of Cusco with a transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima. Arrive in the Lima airport where our staff will greet you. Drive to Peru´s southern arid coastal desert for about 3.5 hours to Paracas escorted by your guide. En route, we will pass the pre-Incan site of Pachacamac settled around AD 200, located 40k from Lima in the Valley of the Lurin River. Pass by the town of Chincha to indulge in the Peruvian Afro community also famous for its Creole music. Here we will have a delicious flavorful lunch. After lunch we´ll continue our drive until reaching Paracas which was home to the Paracas culture from 700BC to 400AD. Take pleasure in a tour of the protected, National Reserve of Paracas, where we will observe the wildlife of birds, fish and more. See the incredible La Cathedral rock formation and a stroll on the red beach where you will find many fossils. Then relax at the Playa Lagunillas Beach before heading back to your hotel.

Day 11 Watch the Sea Lions of Ballestas Islands- Pisco Tasting – Adventure Sand boarding & Dune Buggy in Ica – Paracas
In the morning we walk to the pier to board our boat to start the sightseeing tour of the Ballestas Islands. These islands are home to hundreds of sea lions and an enormous variety of seabirds including albatross, boobies, cormorant, Inca tern, and various species of gulls, pelicans and penguins. This is a fabulous photo opportunity. Afterwards we continue with our guide by private bus (1½ hours) to Ica. On our way we stop in a local vineyard to observe the steps of making a fine Pisco, from a variety of grapes. Taste the different Piscos before enjoying a delicious lunch. Then we will drive to Huacachina and stop by the tiny oasis that might disappear someday because it is drying up. Currently it is being refilled by a near spring. The adventure begins riding the dune buggy on the sandy dunes up and down. Then we will do some sandboarding. After a terrific time, we will return to Paracas and enjoy the pool.

Day 12 Pisco Airport – Over fly the Mysterious Nazca Lines – Lima
In the morning we will drive to the Pisco airport 15 minutes from Paracas. We wait on line to board the safe Cessna plane for about 1.5 hours and catch views of the mysterious lines etched in the sand. The geoglyphs cover an estimated 170 square miles (450 square kilometers) and include animals such as the spider, hummingbird, monkey, lizard, pelican, killer whale, woman dancing, plants, trees, flowers and oddly shaped fantastic figures. Return to your hotel to have lunch. After lunch we will retrace our route back to our hotel in Lima.

Day 13 Tour the City of Kings – Larco Museum Pre- Columbian artifacts
Today we will delve into the history of the City of Kings. We will visit a combination of pre-Hispanic, Colonial and Contemporary. Our tour will take us through pre-Inca ruins, colonial and Inca architecture, residential neighborhoods, charming churches, and more. Enjoy lunch on your own in a fine restaurant. After lunch we will visit the Larco Museum, a privately owned museum of pre-Columbian art. The museum is housed in an 18th-century vice-royal building built over a 7th-century pre-Columbian pyramid. It showcases chronological galleries that provide a thorough overview of 4,000 years of Peruvian pre-Columbian history to include the erotic gallery. Return to your hotel.
