After a filling breakfast, we will start the heavenly gourmet tour. Visit the local food market to learn about fresh ingredients / vegetables and fruits of Peruvian cuisine while savoring the aromas and the vibrant colors of the variety of fruits, vegetables, meats, fish and more. We will make stops along the way in Miraflores, Barranco and San Isidro. We will have some organic coffee a fruit smoothie in a secret garden café and partake in a Ceviche and Pisco Sour Class with a head chef at a top seafood restaurant. Finally, we can relax and enjoy a gourmet lunch in the Huaca Pucllana with a pretty vision of the pre-Incan ruins. Meet your chef and drive to the San Pedro market where the locals shop for vegetables, meats, fruits and more. Return to the kitchen in the hotel where you begin cooking with special aromas and flavors under the guidance of your chef. You may prepare a lomo saltado (tenderloin sautéed with potatoes, onions and tomatoes served over white rice) or other delicious dish. The Chef will give you instructions on how to prepare along with him. Then devour your hand cooked meal and taste every ingredient that went into your dish. In the afternoon, stroll on the cobble stoned streets to the Plaza de Armas for a visit of the Cathedral built with stones from nearby Sacsayhuaman Temple. Then off to the Qoricancha (court yard of gold) the most important Inca Sun Temple, once a glittering palace. Afterwards, we drive above Cusco and visit the impressive Sacsayhuaman a religious sacred site for the Incas but was called a fortress by the Spaniards. Be in awe with the huge large wonderfully carved granite stones with boulders carefully chiseled to fit together. Thereafter, continue to Qenqo (labyrinth or zigzag) thought to have been used for rituals and to embalm bodies. Return to your hotel and have dinner. In the early evening, we will take you to Tupay Restaurant at the Belmond Monasterio Hotel.

We depart Cusco in the morning and drive to the fertile Sacred Valley of the Incas admiring the surrounding mountains. We continue our drive passing the town of Pisaq (2,960m/9,809ft) and up a winding road to the impressive Inca archaeological site of Pisaq (3,390m/11,122ft) overlooking the town and country side, with numerous agricultural terraces. Hike to the Intihuatana (sun temple), a solar clock among a group of temples, ceremonial baths and more. We will visit the Pisaq artisan market where you can buy souvenirs. Our delicious lunch will be at the Hacienda Sarapampa tucked away in Taray surrounded by the mystical mountains. Today we will be introduced to the large white corn grown only in the Sacred Valley which helps the economy of the local people. Relish in a wonderful lunch prepared from the farm to the table tasting the organic potatoes, crisp vegetables and meats. After lunch we will go to your hotel and settle in. Relax in your hotel.

Today we are going to visit the fabulous highland community of Chinchero (3,762m/12,340ft.) believed to have been a resort town for the Inca Emperor Tupác Yupanqui. We will watch a traditional colorful weaving demonstration in a local´s home. See th people dying wool, spinning it into yarn and weaving it on their looms. You will have an opportunity to purchase some of their shawls (mantas), belts (watanas), and caps (chullos), amongst other items. ToursTrekperu supports these people in the struggle to maintain their traditions and customs.

Today we will travel through the valley along the Urubamba River in direction to the quaint town of Ollantaytambo (2792m/9160ft) rebuilt by the Inca Pachacutec. This lovely town has many water canals running alongside the homes and excellent Inca planning. The archeological site which has many structures such as the Temple of the Sun, the Royal Hall and will be visited. After our excursion it is time for our typical Andean experience of Pachamanca. We will watch the chef prepare this special dish in an earth oven using hot rocks to cook the pork, lamb, or other meats, potatoes, lima beans and plantains. We will feast on this delicious plate tasting the natural ingredients. After a fabulous time, we will take the train to Machu Picchu town to spend the night.

Day 7 Discover the lost and magical Machu Picchu – travel back to Cusco by train
Early rise and have breakfast before taking the bus for a 25-minute ride to the magical Machu Picchu one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Take pleasure in a professional guided walking tour of the citadel once lost in time. Our first visit will take us to the guard house to observe the agricultural farming terraces, Funerary Rock where the Incas were mummified and catch spectacular views of Sungate up above and Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu below. Stroll to the extraordinary Temple of the Sun with exceptionally carved stones, The Sacred Plaza with the Temple of the Three Windows which features the huge trapezoidal windows. Walk up to the Intihuatana the solar clock and finally visit the temple of the Condor. Exit the park and have lunch in the Tampu Restaurant in the Sanctuary Lodge. After lunch return to town with your guide and board the train with panoramic windows to the Ollantaytambo or Poroy station. Upon arrival in the station we will whisk you to your hotel in Cusco.
