AUSANGATE CIRCUIT TREK
5 DAYS

Overview

Highlights

  • The Vilcanota Range is located 60 miles in a remote area southeast of Cusco and includes beautiful turquoise lakes, glaciers and the massive snow-covered peaks of Ausangate (over 20,000 ft). The Vilcanota circuit is a challenging trek which includes four high passes over 15,500 ft. This is also an excellent trek for viewing Andean wildlife. Look for the Condor and Huallata (Andean Goose), the elegant Vicuña and the mountain Viscacha. This is also sacred land and home to some of the most expressive religious festivals Peru like the festival of Qoylloriti, held during the last week of May. It is a magnificent illustration of the unique mixture of Catholicism and Andean religion found indigenous to Peru.
